Cruelty-Free Beauty Review: Boots Botanics
Over the years, I have grown so attached to my skincare routine that I'm rarely bothered to try something new. The fragrances of my usual cleanser and moisturiser are as familiar to me as the intoxicating scent of coffee in the morning - a necessity. But when I came across Botanics in Boots, I was swayed by...OK, I'll admit it: it was the price that won me over. With their half-off offer, I think I paid £6,25 for both a day cream and a night cream. Bargain, huh?
A bit of quick Googling shows that Boots brands are cruelty-free, and the Botanics range is almost entirely vegan. With the low price, I wasn't sure what to expect, but after over a week of using the creams, my skin feels soft, moisturised and refreshed, which is not a small feat with the windy, icy weather we've been having.
The Day Cream has SPF15, which I find important in a moisturiser as I don't always find it in my foundation (and yes, we have to use SPF in the winter as well). It has a fresh, floral scent that's a nice wake-me-up in the morning.
The Night Cream hydrates and softens, with a non-heavy texture. It's like a big glass of water for your skin, or a soothing cup of tea.
I love the combination of the two creams. They both feel luxurious and moisturising, and like they cost a lot more than they did. I don't know if I'll be altering my routine in the long run, but Botanics is a brand that is certain to make a repeat appearance on my bathroom shelf.
