On my 21st birthday, I only had one birthday present - from myself. I was working in Italy for the first time and decided to give myself a treat, so I went to the local jewellery shop and found the brand Nomination, whose customiseable stainless steel bracelets were all the rage among young Italians back then. I bought a bracelet with my name on it in gold letters - and still wear it.
Ten years later, I was in Amalfi for my birthday with my new husband. And we were passing by a local jewellery shop that carried Nomination.
I refused to let David buy it for me at first. I'm not the kind of person that spends €65 on a bracelet - most of my jewellery is either really cheap or used to be my mum's. But David argued that I'm 31 now and need to start paying attention to quality. I agreed, realising that I'd rather have one really good bracelet than ten crappy ones - and this one is really "me". Over the years, stars have become my thing - there's the star dress (which I'm wearing in the above photo!), my starry Converse and my tattoo. And now this bracelet, which also carries the memory of our amazing honeymoon in Amalfi. It has so many beautiful meanings and I love it so much.
