Steal the Two Best Looks from the Met Ball

If there's any ONE event this year that I'd love to be invited to, it's the Met Ball. The old-school Hollywood glamour of it has always fascinated me. So far from the teenybopper awards shows (where Twilight gets voted best movie and I just want to die a little) or the show-offiness of Fashion Week. It's just classy. And classic.

This year I was particularly curious about the Met Ball because I loveloveLOVE the punk theme (no surprises there) and quite frankly, I believe that if you're lucky enough to be invited, you should dress accordingly. No showing up in floral Givenchy (yes, Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian, I'm talking to you!) or floor-skimming pink (oh, Gwyneth, even you disappointed me this time). Come on people, this is PUNK! Go all out. Stud and spike it up. When else are you ever going to?

This is why the Coffee and Heels BEST DRESSED of the evening award goes to...drum roll...

Miss Sienna "I Don't Know How NOT to Dress Amazingly" Miller.

One of my first days in London, I spotted this lady standing on the street. She was so gorgeous it was insane. She looks infinitely much better in person than she does in pictures (and, well, she's drop-dead in pictures, so...) and her punked-out rock-chic look was too much for words. I worship this woman's style. And at the Met Ball, she truly showed that punk + elegant = not only possible but out of this world fantastic. This is how you dress for a punk-themed ball! BEST LOOK OF THE EVENING.

Dress, Mango

My other favourite of the night did punk in her very own way:

I am probably biased because I have such a ridiculous girl crush on the perfection that is Jennifer Lawrence. I'm a HUGE fan of her and I've only seen her in one movie. I think she often manages to be real as well as ethereal and beautiful on the red carpet. She blends classic Hollywood glamour with a modern brand of kick-ass that I just fall head over heels for. This look is dark and edgy but at the same time refined and sophisticated. Perfect.

Steal her look:

Dress, Topshop

Veil , Lilybella

Sandals, OlsenHaus at Compassion Couture

Clutch, Jill Milan

  2. Yay I love that I've stumbled across your blog. I'm a vegetarian and a photographer and I also find myself at confusing crossroads sometimes taking photographs of a 'divine leather skirt' toppped off with a fur coat. I haven't quite found a way to make it work yet, but you've definitely given me some inspiration!

I also have a ridiculous girl-crush on Jennifer. Look at that. First name basis (in my mind...)
