Shoe Shopping and Vegan Cupcakes

In my five days of living in London, I am amazed at how shockingly easy vegan life is. Even the tiniest, most tucked-away café has soy milk for my daily cappuccino, for starters. Pubs in Stoke Newington have "veggie English breakfast" (I gave the eggs to my boyfriend, the rest was pure delight!). In Milan, not even the trendiest barista at the place where models have coffee during Fashion Week has heard of milk replacement. Here, you can choose between soy, hemp, almond, and hazelnut (hazelnut! Yes, really).

And don't get me started on shoes. Vegan shoes. Vegan shoes and the new love of my life, Primark (oh Primark, where art thou? Why aren't thou in Italy to save all vegan fashionistas from footwear crises?).

I love, love, LOVE Primark. Their shoes and bags are vegan and cost next to nothing (I know that "fast fashion" is EVIL to the environment, I know. But unfortunately I am a writer, so I can't afford "slow" fashion just yet. I will one day, though!). After just five minutes at the huge shop right in front of the Marble Arch bus stop, I got out with:

Studded little wonders, £18

(perfect with jeans or floral skirts! I've worn them twice and already had tons of compliments, not to mention all the girls that eye them on the bus or in the street. I want to walk up to them and say "they're Primark and they're only £18! Hurry!")

On another vegan note: David and I were walking around the Thames festival (a beautiful street celebration that goes from the Borough Market to the Tate Modern area) when we bumped into a cupcake stand. Not any cupcake stand: a vegan one. Yes, you read right, vegan cupcakes, my dream come true.

I had a Chocolate and Peanut Butter (yum! Double yum!) from Ruby Tuesday's of London, a vegan cake and cupcake bakery. I was so excited to find vegan cupcakes that I barely had time to take the picture before I scoffed it down. The cake was so mouth-wateringly fantastic that David had to have one, too, a Raspberry Coconut one. It tasted like heaven.

...and that's pretty much what this city feels like to us right now. We're in love with it. We love our new life and tomorrow...guess what? We're moving into our new flat! Stay tuned for more London tales (and more vegan style!)

    1. They might have some leather stuff - I'm not sure! But all the shoes I looked at were faux leather, which I love. And there are lots and lots of them!

  7. Fantastico!!!
Londra è proprio il posto migliore in cui vivere, sotto ogni punto di vista.

Ti leggo così piena di entusiasmo e sei talmente brava nel trasmetterlo anche a noi che fai venire voglia di fare i bagagli e partire.
