The Vacation Diaries part 2 - La Cittá Eterna

I love Rome.

Every time I visit the Eternal City (I've been seven or eight times), I'm blown away by how majestically beautiful this city is. The sheer greatness of it overwhelms you. The beauty, history and atmosphere of the Italian capital seem to fill up the air. Its most legendary monuments have countless stories to tell and it's an endless pleasure to explore them all.

In the summer, Rome might seem a bit emptier due to Romans fleeing the city to escape the heat, but tourists continue flocking to the gorgeous chunk of history that is Rome. When I visit the city, I can't help but feel like a tourist, which makes me sad. I regret not ever having lived in Rome: it must be beyond fantastic to walk those streets every day, to breathe all that history, to live the greatness of La Cittá Eterna. Maybe one day. For now, I'll settle for visiting...again and again and again.

The Fontana di Trevi is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my entire life. I go there every time I am in town and I can spend hours sitting in front of it. I can't put my finger on what it is about this particular monument that makes me fall in love (could be that scene from Fellini's La Dolce Vita), but I adore that old fountain!

And one more thing: we loved our hotel!
If you're visiting Rome and would like to stay in a very nice place that's budget-friendly and strategically located right by the Termini station, look no further than Hotel Demetra Capitolina - with the price we paid, we expected a dingy motel-esque dump. Instead, we found this:

...not too shabby.

The only thing: air-con, people! You can't expect me to sleep in Roman heat in August without air conditioning. It is simply not human.

This is how happy we were at the end of our Roman Holiday:

  1. I love Rome as well! Definitely one of my favorite cities to visit - you look so happy here!

  2. Aww... Rome is such an amazing city. I never cease to be amazed by the art and the beautifully dressed men and women. Ah and Roman Holiday- I always want to reenact that Vespa scene.

  3. Roma è semplicemente fantastica, non mi stancherò mai e poi mai di ritornarci!

Speak your mind.
