A Much-Needed Vacation

I have spent the past week apartment-hunting, trying to work, helping David fix a leak in the kitchen (don't ask), worrying and wondering if I'll miss Milan. Correction: how much I'll miss it.

I have woken up in the middle of the night sweating, caught up in never-ending nightmarish mind-monologues such as "oh my God, what if I won't be able to find any more freelance jobs? What are we going to do? What if Londoners hate me? What if everyone's right and it really does rain all the time? What if something else breaks in this apartment before it's time to hand over the keys to the landlord? What if I cry when handing over the keys? What if  David misses his family and wants to move back? What if I miss the dog shelter and want to move back? What if..."

...you get it: I need a vacation.

Luckily for my mental health, tomorrow we're jumping on a train to Rome and then on Monday morning we're headed to a lovely little rural town by the sea where my best friend is vacationing with her boyfriend. Four days of sun-drenched beach-lounging, drinking the odd glass of wine and reading ELLE: exactly what I need.

I'll be back at the end of the week - hopefully a little less frazzled and a bit more sun-kissed!

  1. Hey Sascha, I got a little apprehensive for you just reading that, but I'm sure you're going to do just fine in your new home :) A trip to the beach fixes everything. This weekend I enjoyed a snow day and whilst I'm definitely a beach girl, being on a snow covered mountain was a lot of fun! I bet you'll come back feeling so much better about everything! xoxox

    1. Thank you Vanisha, what a great comment! My family lives in Sweden and every time I visit them in the winter, I actually enjoy the snow, even if I'm more of a beach lover too! Have a good week!

  2. Nope. London is a wonderful city, people will love you for sure and work is much more dynamic than in Milan. Plus there is always easy jet to come back.. for Fashion Week for ex ;) Everything else can just be fixed.

    1. thank you! These are the words of encouragement that I need :)
