10 Reasons to Love Pilates

Today there was this drop-dead-oh-my-God-I-want-to-have-your-babies guy in my Pilates class (don't tell my fiancé) that didn't speak Italian, so guess who had to translate the entire class? Duh - yours truly of course. While I was telling this statuesque man to keep his glutes and abs tight (biting my tongue to keep myself from offering to feel how tight they were) I started thinking about my favorite workout and why, while every other workout gets a "do I have to? Really now?" reaction from me, I always have energy for Pilates. I've become addicted to it and there are way more reasons than hot dudes (although they certainly don't hurt) to keep me coming back.

Read on for my top 10 reasons to never miss a Pilates class again!

1. It makes your endorphine levels skyrocket, which basically leads to you feeling happier.

2. Hello, toned muscles!

3. It makes your posture better (don't count me, I still walk like the Hunchback of Notre Dame)

4. You don't have to carry the extra weight of sneakers in your gym bag, as pilates requires no shoes.

5. It's a great excuse to buy new gym clothes!

6. No sweating. Enough said.

7. It's relaxing and invigorating...but...

8. ...it never, ever gets boring.

9. If you go to a class, there's often soft, lounge-y music (which is a nice break from my usual grungey, punky playlist)

10. If you need any more convincing, read the story at the beginning of this post!

  4. LooweezBx: I love yoga too, can't wait to get back to yoga! They're quite similar, just that Pilates is more dynamic and works the whole body while yoga focuses on positions.
